Position Overview
Under general direction and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital the Administrative Assistant is responsible for: providing administrative and secretarial support to the Director and/or Division Head and/or Principal Investigator, and other members of the Division as required; assisting the with overall administration and efficient operation of the Division; participating in the development of policies and procedures; monitoring and reconciling disbursements, expenditures and inventory levels; handling matters related to office equipment, supplies, computer and systems related issues; performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in a senior/administrative assistant position, preferably in a healthcare, university or research setting.
- Accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Manitoba Grade 12.
- Successful completion of a recognized secretarial or administrative secretarial program.
- Successful completion of certificate/diploma program in accounting or bookkeeping, or equivalent experience in inventory and budget reconciliation is preferred.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed recognized by the Employer, may be considered in lieu of the above.

Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database, word processing, PowerPoint and internet software applications.
- Keyboarding speed: 60 wpm.
- Previous experience using Reference Manager software is desirable.
- Knowledge of University administrative procedures is an asset.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature required.
- Mature and professional manner required.
- Strict attention to detail required.
