Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Critical Care and ED Program Director, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the effective, efficient provision of clerical support for the following areas: Surgery Program. Duties include reception and administrative support including managing calendars, coordinating and preparatory work for meetings and other miscellaneous clerical duties.

Experience

  • 2–3 years of direct secretarial experience required.
  • Experience in using setting up Teams meetings, transcribing reports and meeting minutes required.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining graphs and spreadsheets from statistical information.
  • Two years of recent clerical experience in a health care setting preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Completion of a comprehensive course in medical terminology is an asset.
  • Successful completion of a recognized business office training program is an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Possession of a Health Unit Clerk certificate is an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated excellence in time management, organization and prioritization.
  • Demonstrated self-direction, flexibility and creativity in work.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills that promote professionalism, interdepartmental collaboration and customer service.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
