Position Overview

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the Concordia Place nursing units and administration department.

Experience

  • Two years minimum previous experience working in a clinic/medical office/health care environment or in a similar or directly related position required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical office assistant course or equivalent required.
  • Medical terminology required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word/Keyboarding, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Proficiency with minimum data set (MDS) application preferred.
  • Proficiency with online requisitioning program, e.g. ORMED supply chain preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Word, MDS, ORMED, Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain statistical data, MDS records, order supplies via ORMED supply chain and initiate other computer reports, and use a digital camera.
  • Must be a team player with outstanding interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-faceted team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high traffic area with frequent interruptions is required.
  • Discreet and confidential in all facility and resident related matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of staff, community service agencies, and the public.
  • Must be able to handle a diverse workload and function with limited guidance, supervision and monitoring.

 

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
