Position Overview
The WRHA Mental Health & Addictions Recovery Service provides a range of mental health and addictions services. These services are committed to providing a responsive and inclusive system aimed to restore, promote and maintain well-being for the residents of the Winnipeg Health Region. The Access Coordinator will streamline entry to these various services including Community-Based Addictions Treatment programs that provide individual and group programming, as well as family support to individuals who are working towards their recovery and living in the community; Community Mental Health Workers who provide clinical case management throughout 12 geographically based community service settings.
Experience
- Minimum of four years directly related community mental health and/or addictions experience.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- BSW, OT, PT, BSc PN, RPN, BN, RN, SLP, RD, or related health/human service degree required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Licensure/registration as per professional designation required.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and a vehicle.
- If successful applicant is a Registered Dietitian, must be a graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program accredited by Dietitians of Canada.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective networking and agency relations skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding the bio/psycho/social model of mental illness, addictions, and recovery.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge and advanced level expertise in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, brief treatment, service coordination and consultation.
- Able to use problem resolution skills to handle sensitive and complex issues related to multiple service involvement.
Physical Requirements
- May require evening and weekend work.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
