Position Summary
The Human Resources Consultant provides:
1. Management Support – performance management, attendance management.
2. Labour Relations – contract interpretation, application of progressive discipline up to and including dismissal, grievance handling, and collective bargaining preparation.
3. Employee Relations – application of progressive discipline, investigation of workplace complaints, conducting exit interviews.
4. Staffing – development of selection criteria and interview questions, participation on interview panels and providing feedback.
5. Mentorship – support and mentorship to Human Resources Advisors
Additionally, the Human Resources Consultant provides support related to disability and medical leaves of absence. The Human Resource Consultant also provides collective agreement interpretation for Managers and Directors. At all times, the Human Resources Consultant functions in a manner consistent and supportive of the Mission, Vision and Values of Mount Carmel Clinic
Qualifications
Education
· Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management, (or related field with Human Resource Management certificate)
· Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred
· A combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills, Expertise and Experience
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a unionized environment (preferably healthcare) performing a broad range of Human Resource functions
· Demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully and patiently with staff and leadership team
· Demonstrated exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated ability to treat all HR related matters with the utmost respect, confidentiality, and discretion
· Demonstrated high level of attention to detail
· Demonstrated strong personal commitment to ethics, integrity and responsibility
· Demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills
· Demonstrated willingness and commitment to ongoing learning and development
· Demonstrated ability to ensure HR processes and procedures are fully executed in a timely manner
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and be innovative to enhance operations and functions of the HR department
· Demonstrated understanding of oppression, harm-reduction, and culturally grounded healing;
· Experience working in community health, preferably with the communities Mount Carmel Clinic serves
· Experience providing human resources support with an intersectional approach
· Experience with HRIS / HRMS – implementation of HRIS experience preferred
