Position Overview

The Staffing Clerk is accountable to ensure the efficient and cost-effective staffing and payroll processes within an electronic program, for the assigned departments, in accordance with facility staffing needs, organizational policies, and applicable collective agreements.

The incumbent will exercise the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a staff scheduler.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with electronic scheduling applications.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a health care environment.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Working knowledge of Collective Agreements.
  • Working knowledge of a computerized staff scheduling system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge in the usage of office equipment.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated efficient organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads using effective time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and responsive to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with management and staff within the region.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed and focused accuracy given complexity of Electronic Scheduling Program and payroll processes.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.

Physical Requirements

  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • May be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties require.
