C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre is seeking a Radiological Technologist who will play an essential role in supporting Primary Care and Surgical Services healthcare providers by performing diagnostic technical procedures utilizing radiation equipment for the diagnosis and monitoring of injury or disease. This position will overlap a second Radiological Technician working 07:30hrs -16:30hrs Monday through Friday.

 

Reporting to the clinic’s Laboratory/X-Ray Supervisor, the Radiological Technologist will:

 

  • Ensure patients are prepared for their imaging procedures, confirming their identification, obtaining their consent, medial history and medications.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable and informed by explaining the process when positioning patients correctly to obtain the clearest images possible.
  • Work closely with Radiologist, Primary Care Physicians and Surgical Specialists to provide quality imaging that supports patient evaluations, follow-up exams, or referrals.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols in accordance with Provincial and Federal legislation.
  • Provide administrative and technical support including:
    • Data entry and back-up
    • Reception/Clerical functions (answering telephone, booking appointments, copying and faxing)
    • Burning Imaging Disks, on request
    • Preparing statistical reports of Radiological services, as required
    • Performs routine cleaning, maintenance and quality control and troubleshooting equipment repairs according to established standards

 

The competencies and qualities required for the positions include:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrated clinical and analytical skills
  • Understanding of Radiological regulations and procedures
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in healthcare management software, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Microsoft Office Suite

 

Diploma in medical Radiological Technology and certification by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) are required.

 

Preference will be given to those who have previous experience working as a Radiological Technologist in a healthcare setting in Canada.
