Human Resources Coordinator

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Director for EMHC, the Human Resources Coordinator provides comprehensive support in the administration and coordination of various human resources functions for Eden Health Care Services (EHCS) and Eden Mental Health Centre (EMHC). This role is essential in assisting with recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, and compliance activities, and payroll backup to ensure a positive and productive workplace.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification:
    • Human Resource certificate, Business Administration or equivalent experience and/or education in a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a general or specialist Human Resources role, preferably within healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
    • Current knowledge and understanding of the CUPE Facility Support, CUPE Community Support, MAHCP and MNU collective agreements, as well as Manitoba Employee Standards and Labour Relations legislation is advantageous.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to details.
    • Capable of maintaining consistent organized work processes.
    • Demonstrated ability in problem solving, critical and analytical thinking, change management and conflict management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook and the ability to adapt to new software programs.
    • Strong relational and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Good work and attendance record.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all Human Resources activities comply with organizational objectives, mission, values, policies, collective agreements, and provincial/federal legislation.
  • Assists and advises staff and managers in interpreting collective agreements, personnel policies and labour legislation.
  • Assists with recruitment process for vacancies for EHCS and EMHC vacancies, including job postings, resume screening and assisting with interviews when needed.
  • Acts as the initial point of contact for any job applicants.
  • Assists managers in preparing offers of employment.
  • Supports managers when needed in orienting new employees to organizational policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Leads the development, revision, and communication of personnel policies in collaboration with Program Directors and Managers.
  • Supports conflict resolution efforts and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and feedback process.
  • Collaborates with managers to develop and maintain accurate, up to date job descriptions.
  • Maintains and updates personnel files.
  • Help coordinate staff appreciation events, recognition programs.
  • Support managers in coordinating employee relations matters and facilitating meetings.
  • Provides guidance to managers throughout the employee disciplinary process and consults with Southern Health Sante Sud and Shared Health Human Resources as needed.
  • Prepares employment related correspondence and documentation.
  • Provides backup support for payroll processing during vacation or absence coverage to ensure timely and accurate payroll administration.

 

Secondary Duties:

  • Meeting and Committee Involvement:
    • Attends EHCS Workplace Health and Safety Committee meeting
    • Attends Employee Engagement Committee Meetings
    • Attends EMHC CUPE Labour Management and MNU Nursing Advisory Committee meeting as required
    • Attends all Gradual Return to Work meetings
    • Ad hoc meetings as required
  • Other committees and duties as assigned.
