Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.)

 

Position Overview

In collaboration with regional educators conceptualizes, plans, implements and evaluates programs to meet the educational needs of the departments and services at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg.

  • Coordinates student placements in conjunction with the department manager.
  • Maintains clinical practice base.
  • Responsible for the facility Infection Control Program.
  • Organizes, prepares, instructs and/or facilitates in services, workshops and facility mandatory education.
  • Conducts new staff general orientation and collaborates with directors/managers on education and training needs.
  • Position may require work on evening, night, and weekend shifts to fully facilitate the position requirements.

Experience

  • Two (2) to five (5) years teaching experience required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a clinical geriatric or long-term care setting required.
  • Administrative experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree, and;
  • Certificate or degree in education or adult education preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Manitoba (CRPNM).
  • Valid CPR certificate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to adapt readily to changing demands and situations.
  • Effective planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills in individual and group situations.
  • Knowledge of research methods.
  • Knowledge of management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in English; both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, etc.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
