Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
The Support Services Team Leader is responsible for the overall management and supervision of all staff and operations assigned to their respective team/area ensuring all phases of their operations meet policies, procedures and standards.
Under the general direction of the Manager of Support Services, the incumbent is responsible for the administration, coordination, implementation and evaluation of high-quality services required by patients and staff at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre including: cleaning, laundry, food preparation and delivery, building and equipment maintenance, interdepartmental mail delivery, procurement, inventory management, and storage for their respective buildings.
This is a front line leadership position, which requires maintaining effective interpersonal relationships with a diversity of staff at all levels and segments within the organization such as Dietitians, Program Managers, Coordinators of Patient Services, financial staff, human resources staff, pharmacy staff, Fire Safety Officer, Workplace Safety and Health Officer, Quality & Risk Manager, Redevelopment Coordinator, health inspectors, vendors, retailers and other divisions of government/government agencies to coordinate patient care needs.
Knowledge of labour relations and conflict resolution is essential.
Operational planning regarding staffing and budgetary responsibilities is also important.
Experience
- Several years' experience working in a health care service delivery environment with extensive knowledge and experience in building cleaning/maintenance, food service, linen/laundry service, materials acquisition/storage, and transportation services with at least one year experience in a leadership/supervisory role is required.
- Experience working with or around mentally ill individuals would be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Post-secondary education in a related field is desired.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required along with experience using Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Strong organizational and time management skills are required to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive work relationships in a team environment under minimal supervision and the ability to make independent decisions is also required.
