Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor, Diagnostic Services, Director of Diagnostic Services, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of efficient secretarial support to the assigned department within the Department Services.

Duties include:

  1. Providing support to the Supervisor, Diagnostic Services and other members of the department and assisting with administrative duties.  Typing a variety of correspondence including presentations, medical papers, forms, etc.
  2. Acting as a receptionist, taking and relaying messages, answering general inquiries, setting up meetings for the Diagnostic Services Administrative Staff -.
  3. Performing all duties relating to departmental payroll.
  4. Maintaining departmental files and adequate levels of supplies within the Section.

Experience

  • Two years previous related secretarial experience.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized secretarial training program required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Typing 50 wpm required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Knowledge of dictation preferred.
  • Must have excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meets deadlines, problem-solve and exercise good judgment for decision making.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent use of a computer.
  • Frequent interruptions.
  • Contact with staff, patients and public must be handled in a courteous and effective manner.
