Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Digital Health focuses on supporting clinical and business systems as the foundation for leveraging electronic data in the delivery of health-care services.


We have an opportunity for a technical specialist (ICT) security who will provide ICT security services to secure and safeguard ICT assets for the public health-care system including Shared Health, six service delivery organizations and other applicable health care partners. As this role is provincial in nature the work location is flexible and final determination of the work location will be made in consultation with the successful candidate.


The successful candidate will monitor and respond to external and internal threats and apply defensive information security solutions and technologies, support the training delivery and apply the ICT security program to ensure secure practices are applied throughout the public provincial health-care system. The successful candidate will work with a team of technical specialists in ICT security to ensure Shared Health and our client organizations across the province are supported with client focused services and effective and responsive ICT security risk analysis, monitoring, and response that support effective collaboration and enable innovative and sustainable health services delivery. The successful candidate will support ICT security compliance for projects and the ongoing introduction of changes, upgrades, or new applications to the operating environment, and will act as a designated ICT security contact for escalation and the implementation of all ICT security processes for incident management, problem management, change management, service level management, access management and risk management. Reporting to a director ICT services, the successful candidate’s leadership, professionalism, diplomacy, and continuous improvement orientation will be evident as they collaborate with clients and colleagues to provide excellent customer service, identify system solutions, and support an integrated province-wide health-care system that provides multiculturally respectful health services delivery.

  • 5 years of progressive experience in an information systems security analyst role in a large, geographically disperse ICT service, preferably in health-care services, including:
  • 3 years of experience influencing mid and senior management stakeholders, and collaborating on project implementations in a 24/7 on-call, service critical operating environment; direct experience leading projects is an asset
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Undergraduate degree in technology, computer science or engineering from an accredited educational institution; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Additional education in health informatics is an asset
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is required
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations certification, or higher, is required
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license
  • Additional ICT, project management or organizational change management related certifications are assets

Physical Requirements
  • Must be available for regular travel within the province, able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment, and to lift and move items of up to approximately 25 pounds
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends and/or extended hours
