Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Supervisor and Provincial HR Shared Services Manager, this position is responsible for processing payroll and benefits functions. This includes the calculation and application of pay and benefits while complying to all required policies, procedures, Government Regulated Legislation and Non-Union guidelines including varied processes in dealing with multiple Collective Agreements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as first point of contact for employees, manager or third parties requesting information via phone or email related to payroll, benefits and employment.
  • Handling customer inquiries both by phone and email.
  • Researching required information using available resources.
  • Managing and resolving customer complaints.
  • Answering inquiries, clarifying and resolving problems related to Payroll, Benefits and Staffing.
  • Processing Payroll, Benefits, and employment transactions for all employees within Shared Health Manitoba and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
  • Assisting employees and stakeholders regarding inquiries, enrolments, terminations and making revisions to employee benefits.
  • Calculating and communicating prepayment of benefit premiums for employees beginning a leave of absence.
  • Processing master data changes, special pays and corrections to pay.
  • Calculating WCB, MPI advances and top-ups per the applicable collective agreements.
  • Processing terminations, leaves of absences, GRTW and return from leaves.
  • Completing Third Party Wage Loss Replacement Forms.

Experience

  • Previous experience in employee payroll and benefits required.
  • SAP system knowledge is an asset.
  • Experience with Remedy or other service management software is an asset.
  • Previous call centre experience is an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Completion of high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Payroll Association, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent education from a recognized business certificate preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong decision making skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively while under deadline pressures in a fast-paced environment and have strong time management skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to assist customers and deal with related documentations using a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to prioritize work flow and have ability to work independently as well as and effective member of the overall team.

 

Salary commensurate with education and qualifications.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

 

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
