Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, the Drug Distribution Manager is responsible and accountable for the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation and operation of safe, effective and efficient provision of drug distribution services. The Drug Distribution Manager works collaboratively with other members of the Pharmacy Department to ensure that the compounding, preparation and delivery of medications comply with regional Pharmacy standards and adhere to regulations and acts governing to Pharmacy profession.

 

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy is preferred.
  • One (1) year related supervisory/management experience or equivalent education/training is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate OR the program prescribed by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba for candidates who successfully complete a non-CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
  • Completion of a management training program is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Recognized or eligible to be recognized as a Pharmacy Technician by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as internet applications and other Pharmacy related Information Technology.
  • Knowledge of regulations and acts governing the profession of Pharmacy in Manitoba.
  • Knowlege of hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, facilitation, negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply collective agreements.
  • Ability to display independent judgement.
  • Ability to use information technologies for communication, word processing, spreadsheet applications and other common needs.
  • Project management skills to plan, organize and coordinate multiple activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop policies and procedures.
  • Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of health care management.
  • Maintain current competencies that underlie the main duties of a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Provide annually to their supervisor, a record of continuing education requirements to maintain their eligibility to be a Pharmacy Technician under the legislation of the Pharmaceutical Act and Regulations.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
