Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Shared Health is recruiting a creative communicator with a passion for digital content creation who will support effective and strategic communication to a diverse audience of health system staff, stakeholders, patients and the general public. Under the general direction of the Director of Corporate Communications and working closely with a skilled communications team, the successful candidate will plan and support initiatives for clinical areas, business and service delivery areas, including HSC Winnipeg. The successful candidate will support business and service delivery areas in determining their communication needs, will gather information for the development of content, and will develop plans that allow them to meet deadlines, manage and prioritize multiple projects and assignments, and engage others as required to achieve personal, professional and organizational goals.
The successful candidate will use excellent spoken and written communication skills, recognize and respect the need to maintain absolute confidentiality, and apply effective analysis and innovative thinking improve services and outcomes for our clients, including:
- Craft and provide engaging and thoughtful text, stories, concepts and campaigns for health system audiences that speaks to a wide range of audiences.
- Create and edit copy for digital and print communications including draft text for presentations, correspondence and other written materials.
- Write quick and accurate correspondence, turning complex ideas into compelling and easy to understand messages.
- Conduct interviews and capture video and/or photo to support articles for newsletters, recruitment campaigns, annual reports, etc.
- Support design requests for signage (print and digital).
- Organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in public relations or communications, preferably in a health or corporate setting, with demonstrated experience working with senior level management and leading communication initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven skills in writing and editing.
- Demonstrated ability to support video and photography requirements including storyboarding, script development, content capture, editing and post-production.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- A post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field from an accredited post-secondary educational institution; an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration

Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment including the ability to lift and move items of up to 25 pounds.
- Must be available for occasional off-site meetings and after hour events, which may require travel within the province.
