COVID Immunization Clinic - Post Immunization Observer

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our departments across the province will require additional staffing to support our fight against COVID-19; while continuing to provide the best possible health care services to Manitobans.

 

Manitoba recognizes the hard work and dedication of our front-line heath care providers and we are looking for additional experienced health care providers to offer support during these unprecedented and challenging times, to help provincial efforts to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

Position Overview

 

• Monitors Post-Immunization Observation Area, for clients who may be unwell and need assistance after immunization; responds to any reactions and/or answer any questions
• Ensures that clients maintain 2 metre distance and continue to wear their masks within the post immunization observation area
• Ensures all staff and volunteers in the post immunization observation area comply with safe work  procedures
• Follows PPE policies and procedures and assists others as needed
• Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills such as immunization
• Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs or 6.8 kg
 

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Health professionals from the following categories who meet the additional qualifications are eligible to apply:

• Physician Assistants

• Nurse Practitioners
• Registered Nurses
• Registered Psychiatric Nurses
• Licensed Practical Nurses
• Paramedics
• Pharmacists
• Midwives
• Dentists

• Respiratory Therapists
• Occupational Therapists
• Veterinarians
• Veterinary Technologists
• Persons qualified to practice medicine in another jurisdiction outside Manitoba or outside Canada
• Persons qualified to practice registered nursing, licensed practical nursing or psychiatric nursing in another jurisdiction outside Manitoba or outside Canada
• Health care students who meet the following requirements:


o Medicine (3rd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
o Physician Assistant education program (and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
o Licensed Practical Nursing (3rd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
o Psychiatric Nursing (3rd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
o Registered Nursing (3rd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
o Dentistry education program (2nd year or higher and completed injection portion of curriculum)
o Medical Laboratory education program (2nd year or higher)
o Occupational Therapy education program (2nd year or higher)
o Paramedicine education program (and completed injection portion of curriculum)
o Pharmacy (2nd year or higher)
o Physiotherapy (2nd year or higher)
o Respiratory therapy (3rd year or higher)


• Former health care workers who are no longer registered with their professional licensing body:


o Physicians
o Physician Assistants
o Licensed Practical Nurses
o Registered Psychiatric Nurses
o Registered Nurses
o Pharmacists
o Dentists
o Medical Laboratory Technologists
o Midwives
o Occupational Therapists
o Physiotherapists
o Respiratory Therapists
o Paramedics

Paid education will be provided

Additional Qualifications

 

• Experience working in mass immunization clinics or with assessment and responding to health emergencies preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of electronic clinical systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams) required
