  • 12-hour shifts on a 4-on, 4-off rotation, with a mix of day and night shifts.
  • Additional Time off: Scheduled twice per year, a 4 shift rotation is provided as 4 days off. This leads to a stretch of 12 days off in a row twice per year.
  • Isolation/Retention Allowance: $14,300 annually, paid as a lump sum in October.
  • Remoteness Allowance: Paid bi-weekly at $167.64 for single employees ($4,385 annually) or $277.95 for employees with dependants ($7,226 annually).
  • Full-Time Incentive: An additional $5.95 per hour.
  • Vacation Travel Assistance: Beginning in Year 2, receive one economy return airfare per year; beginning in Year 6, receive two economy return airfares per year.
  • Paid travel days: Two paid travel days per year.
  • Moving expenses: Up to $7,500 in eligible moving expenses.
  • Furnished accommodation: A one-bedroom furnished apartment across from the hospital, including utilities, Wi-Fi and laundry, available at a competitive monthly rate

Nurses working in Manitoba may be eligible for additional financial support through the Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund (NRRF). A range of grants and incentives are available to support recruitment, relocation, education and retention, including funding specifically for nurses who relocate to rural or northern communities. Eligibility and funding amounts vary by program.

Position Overview

The registered nurse is under the direct supervision of the nurse in charge and is responsible for providing direct patient care management. The RN fosters positive, professional communications, functions according to the standards of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and the Churchill Regional Health Authority and will function as Nurse in Charge as directed by the Nursing Supervisor or Nurse in Charge. The registered nurse will participate in Quality Service and Quality Improvement Programs and Function as a member of the health care team, participating in staff education and professional development.

Experience

  • Previous acute care experience an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of a recognized diploma and /or degree program in nursing.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Current CPR Certification. ACLS an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to foster good public relationships and effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrates a calm and confident manner during emergency and/or difficult situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services. Effective April 1, 2024, Golden West Centennial Lodge will also be part of the WRHA legal entity.
