Position Overview

The Northern Patient Transportation Program Clerk performs all functions related for elective and emergency travel requests for patients and/or escorts and corporate travel, in compliance with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authorities policies and procedures and the Provincial Northern Patient Transportation Program, while maintaining confidentiality at all times. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to providing exceptional customer service and care for a satisfactory travel experience.

Experience

  • Previous related office experience required, preferably in a health care environment.
  • High business acumen dealing directly with consumers, businesses, stakeholders and community members required.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience communication in-person, over email, and on the phone clearly and accurately required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate relevant education or a combination of progressive skills and training.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
  • A combination of experience and education may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgement. 
  • Strong capacity to manage quickly changing priorities. 
  • Strong confidence to resolve unexpected issues. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with window-based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access).
  • Operational knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
  • Good command of English (oral and written).
  • Good interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Must possess a good employment record, including attendance at work.
  • Ability to work in a team-orientated environment, problem solve, exercise good judgment, initiative, and meet deadlines for service provision. 
  • Must be able to deal with the public, patients and staff in a courteous, patient and tactful manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged physical activities include; walking, stair climbing, standing, sitting, bending, and lifting approximately 25-40 lbs.
  • Work environment consists of frequent interruptions and no natural light.
  • Must have manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to review documents electronically via computer monitor screen for prolong periods.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
