Position Overview

The incumbent trouble shoots, maintains and/or repairs various equipment in the Hospital. Re-designs and modifies existing equipment. Must be flexible in providing general labour and technical assistance to other maintenance and operations personnel as required.

Experience

  • 3 years experience in a variety of facets of maintaining Hospital/Health Care facility equipment or a person with equivalent training and experience as a handyperson, utility person or trades helper, or apprentice in a mechanical trade would be considered.
  • Previous experience in a Hospital/Institutional setting preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade XII education. 
  • Industrial mechanical education would be an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be able to interpret mechanical and pneumatic drawings for associated equipment.
  • Must adhere to all Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
  • Manual dexterity for the effective performance of job duties.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to receive and follow direction
  • Ability to work in a computerized office system environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health to meet position demands.
