Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager, Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the Unit Clerk provides support and care to the unit, to patients, and to the health care team through the provision of performing clerical, receptionist, and related duties as directed, as well as assisting with patient/resident care and providing basic supportive care as directed.

Experience

  • Recent patient care experience (in the last 4 years) required or equivalent will be considered.
  • Computer experience required (i.e. Microsoft Office).

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Health Unit Clerk certificate from a recognized college/educational institution required. 
  • Health Care Aide certificate from a recognized college/educational institution required.
  • Friends and Family CPR training is required.  Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required for positions in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency (ER) with recertification required annually. (Certification must be obtained within 2 months of acquiring the position.)

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical health to meet the position demands.
