SOCIAL SERVICE ASSISTANT
Paid Term Position-35 hours/week for 8 weeks

Department: Baby Steps/Bright Start Program/Primary Care

Position: Social Service Assistant

Anticipated Shift: Weekdays

Responsible To: Community Development Coordinator

Approximate Term Dates: June 23-August 11, 2025

Salary: $15.80/hour

Qualifications:

• Must be energetic, friendly and enthusiastic
• Must be willing to take initiative
• Must enjoy working with young children & families
• Subject to successful criminal record & child abuse registry check.
• Funding through Canada Summer Jobs stipulates applicants are required to be between 15 and 30 years of age
• High School Diploma required
• Food Handlers certificate considered an asset

Responsibilities:

• To support Norwest Healthbox Program by making health and hygiene kits, prepping pamphlets, resources and labels
• To support and facilitate early years program delivery at different program sites throughout the week
• To help with program set-up and take down
• To help with food preparation
• To support parents and children during program
• Know and follow NorWest Co-op Community Health’s policies and procedures
• Maintain client confidentiality
• Other duties & responsibilities as assigned
• Light housekeeping and sanitizing
