Position Overview

The Staff Development Assistant will support the Staff Development Instructor(s) - Nutrition by assisting with the review and development of curricula, resource development and delivery of education components primarily for Home Care Direct Service Staff (Home Care Attendants (HCA), Home Support Workers (HSW), Integrated Support Workers (ISW) and Rehabilitation Assistants (RA). 

  • Minimum of two year experience working with the general public, specifically the elderly and immigrant and refugees, preferred.
  • Understanding of community development, individual capacity building, and knowledge of community resources is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • High School Diploma, Manitoba standards required.
  • Completion of 2nd year Human Nutritional Sciences required.
  • Current Food Handler Certificate required or completed within 3 weeks of hire.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong group facilitation skills, previous facilitator experience
  • Understanding of the determinants of health and adult education is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting.
  • Ability to initiate and work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork, collaboration and partnerships.
  • Demonstrates a professional approach in all situations.
  • Proficiency in computer software.
Physical Requirements
  • Days of work will vary. Must be available on specific days throughout the year as identified by the employer.
  • Physically able perform tasks standing and sitting.
  • Physically to carry 5-10 lbs.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
