Position Overview

Under the direction of the Regional HR Director Corporate Programs & Services and

Community Health, the Senior HR Policy & Project Consultant serves as the lead on significant HR projects or initiatives taking place within the WRHA. They also serve as the lead in the review, development, and communication of all HR related policies. This position significantly impacts the organization by playing a key role in establishing how the organization and human resource services are structured going forward, thus impacting the future efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. The incumbent will serve as the HR representative on corporate projects or initiatives that significantly impact the human resources of the WRHA. The incumbent also works to ensure the deliverables of the project are achieved and that all human resource components are managed effectively and efficiently.

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a unionized environment performing a broad range of Human Resource (HR) functions including: employee relations, recruitment and retention, planning, labour relations, policy development and research.
  • Experience in project management, program development, introduction of new systems and change management strategies.
  • Proven track record of producing results within time and budget constraints.
  • Problem solving, organizing results, and monitoring project progress and outcomes to ensure successful completion of project.
  • Previous experience in policy review and development would be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a relevant disciple from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Project Management basic/fundamental course.
  • Certificate in Human Resource Management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Certification as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of management and project management principles.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management.
  • A strong sense of emotional intelligence and exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to develop effective partnerships and work as part of a supportive team.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office products.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

 

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
