Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Adult Respiratory Therapy Services, the incumbent is responsible for the effective, efficient provision of secretarial support for the Adult Respiratory Therapy Department including:


  • Typing a variety of material including statistical information, workload units, schedules, minutes, letters, memos and generating a month-end report for Stats Canada.
  • Acting as receptionist for the area, the incumbent coordinates information flow, correspondence and telephone calls for the department (e.g.  monitoring and responding to inquiries regarding departmental information and procedures, etc.).
  • Dealing with staff schedule requests, authorizing and monitoring shift changes as well as various other work-related duties.


  • Two years previous related secretarial experience required. 

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards required. 
  • Successful completion of a recognized secretarial training program required.  
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Typing 50 wpm and medical terminology (pass mark 75%) required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) required. 
  • Good interpersonal and English communication skills required.  
  • Must have the ability to relate to various levels of management, staff, students and the general public.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work under pressure and within established time frames.
