Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Regional Director - Capital Planning, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating multiple phases of planning and construction projects.  These functions include: assisting in preparation of functional space programs; unifying the activity and efforts of several user groups, multiple stakeholders and consultants through an integrated design process; establishing initial construction mobilization meetings; acting as WRHA representative and as a liaison with consultants during construction; job supervision of contractors ensuring all WRHA standards as they relate to construction are met; conducting regular site visits ensuring that construction conforms to plans and specifications in conjunction with consultants; coordinating the decanting process as it relates to construction projects; handling matters of contract administration; and, performing other related duties as required.


  • Minimum 3 - 5 years design and/or project-planning experience required.
  • Direct experience with healthcare capital projects will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in design, planning and construction contract administration.
  • Working knowledge of business management, business ethics and management principles required.
  • Good understanding of budgets, schedules, financial statements and associated management of same as they relate to capital projects.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Infection, Prevention and Control Measures.
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD 2010 or more current essential.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in Architecture, (Interior Design, Environmental Design or Architectural Technology).
  • LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Professional Accreditation, Project Management and Construction Contract Administration education are considered assets.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Project required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad 2010 required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and problem solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interact well with professionals at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical health to cope with frequent construction site inspections and good mental health to cope with dispute resolution and schedule maintenance.
