Position Overview

The Physiotherapy Manager is responsible for:


  • Providing leadership, facilitating and promoting optimal client care in a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Effective management of clinical practice, administration, education, and research.
  • Management of the human, material, and financial resources of a designated service area.
  • Successful operation of PAR Health Services.  The Manager is responsible for a fee-for-service physiotherapy and occupational therapy program which competes with privately owned clinics and services in the community. The existence of this program depends upon the ability of the staff to generate sufficient revenue to cover all expenses; therefore, in carrying out the above responsibilities, the Manager must be attuned to the needs and expectations of funding agencies.
  • Developing and coordinating the delivery of educational programs for physiotherapy staff and students.


  • Minimum of seven years recent, relevant clinical experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility required.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor or manager preferred.
  • Experience in program planning, development and evaluation required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in physiotherapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated.
  • Masters or PhD level academic preparation in healthcare administration, business administration or a related field preferred.
  • Formal healthcare management, financial management and computer systems training.


  • Must be registered on the Practicing Roster of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba.
  • Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association required.
  • Active participation with an appropriate specialty organization and/or interest group required where applicable.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the WRHA policy.

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of evidence-informed practice.
  • Knowledgeable about quality management and discipline specific accreditation standards.
  • General knowledge of the regulations and scope of practice documents that guide the practice of physiotherapists and relevant support workers.
  • Working knowledge of the legislative acts governing the delivery of physiotherapy and occupational therapy care.
  • Ability to critically think, analyze, conceptualize, and apply relevant knowledge to practice.
  • Expert organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring skills in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Sound knowledge of budgets and financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to function in a computerized environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be in good physical and mental health and be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work well under stress and time constraints.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
  • Must be able to travel to meetings on and off-site.
