Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, Patient Care and in collaboration with the Perinatologist in the unit, the incumbent is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the health care needs of all high-risk obstetrical patients seen in the Fetal Assessment Unit.


  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience in a high risk perinatal unit required.
  • Previous experience in a fetal assessment unit is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the relevant portions of the Health Science Centre Ultrasound Training Program (If the incumbent does not have the Ultrasound Training Program, enrollment and successful completion of the relevant portions within 2 years of hire, is required).


  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).
  • Current B.L.S. registration at the Targeted Responder Level is required.
  • Valid motor vehicle license and access to a reliable vehicle preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health.


This term position may end earlier as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
