Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The largest change to Manitobas provincial health-care system in a generation is laying the foundation for strategic system realignment and improved patient care. We require a proven leader to join an integrated senior leadership team and build effective system-wide relationships that drive strategic and sustainable outcomes, provide centralized business functions, and enable the work of partner service delivery organizations and provincial health services.


Diagnostic imaging has a broad provincial scope with staff in approximately 70 service locations ranging from small, remote, northern to large, complex, urban and tertiary sites with over 1000 unionized and union-exempt employees across professional disciplines such as nurses, medical technicians and technologists.


Reporting to the chief operating officer diagnostic services and partnering closely with the operational leadership of laboratory, non-invasive cardiac testing and the chief medical officer diagnostic imaging, the executive director diagnostic imaging operations will build and lead a multi-disciplinary, provincial team of managerial, technical and support staff, establishing a culture of client service in the integrated delivery of the routine to complex diagnostic imaging services (X-Ray to PET). The successful candidate will establish and provide clear standards for service management, performance measurement, and continuous improvement, and will lead staff to deliver on all service commitments. The successful candidates leadership, professionalism, diplomacy, and continuous improvement orientation will be evident as they collaborate with senior leaders across the health system and with key educational institutions to foster and sustain a workforce that provides reliable province-wide, multiculturally respectful diagnostic imaging services.

10 years of progressive experience leading diagnostic imaging or equivalent clinical services teams across a range of care settings in urban, rural and remote environments, including:


  • 5 years of experience in leading a multi-site, geographically disperse diagnostic imaging service using a wide range of diagnostic imaging technologies including magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasound, X-Ray, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, mammography and radionuclide production
  • 5 years of experience participating in strategic planning, leading operational planning, implementing operational directives, and achieving formal quality, patient safety, service integration and partner collaboration goals and objectives
  • 5 years of experience building and leading a high-performing, large, cross-functional and interdisciplinary team in a shared service environment including influencing and collaborating with senior partners


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • A post-secondary diploma in a fundamental area of medical diagnostic imaging from an accredited educational institution is required, a postgraduate degree in a health and/or business-related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Must have a valid Manitoba drivers license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province

Physical Requirements
  • Must be available for regular travel within the province, able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and able lift and move items of up to approximately 25 pounds
