POSITION SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the CEO, the Environmental Services Manager is a member of the Leadership Team, providing leadership and guidance to a multicultural staff while understanding their differences. Ensures standards within the Maintenance, Groundskeeping, Security, Housekeeping and Laundry Departments are maintained to provide a clean, well maintained and safe environment for all residents, staff and visitors to the Centre. The Manager of Environmental Services seeks to promote and maintain a positive, professional, team oriented and service conscious environment to support the 24-hour delivery of safe quality resident care.

 

Performs all duties in accordance with established Manitoba Health Personal Care Home Standards and Workplace Safety & Health regulations and guidelines, policies and procedures (e.g. utilizing personal, protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Reports all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm staff or any others who enter the premises.

 

 

EDUCATION

 

  • A degree or certificate in Business, Facility Management or other related training and experience
  • A Certificate in Health Care Management would be considered an asset

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Experience in leadership and management preferably in a unionized environment
  • Past work experience in a healthcare setting would be an asset
  • Demonstrated independent and collaborative decision making skills
  • Collaborates with others in the acquisition, allocation and utilization of fiscal and human resources

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

  • Awareness of Manitoba Health Standards
  • A working knowledge in trade related areas such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry
  • Knowledge of H.V.A.C. systems and related controls and gas burning systems
  • Ability to read blueprints for previous and new installations
  • Knowledge of DDC Controls, system design application and operation would be an asset
  • Familiarity with housekeeping and laundry services, equipment and systems
  • Knowledge of outdoor groundskeeping equipment and gardening would be an asset
  • Experience with infection control and sanitation
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions is an asset

 

SKILLS

 

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service and support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with complex individual and organization relations
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions effectively
  • Will have experience in a computerized setting including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and the use of a preventative maintenance software program i.e. Hippo
  • Possesses excellent documentation skills
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with complex individual or organizational issues

 

OTHER

 

  • Must be flexible to provide on call or emergency services in the event of a work stoppage, strike, disaster or any other emergency or urgent situation
  • Must be in good physical health to meet the demands of the job
