POSITION:                             Community Development Social Worker

1.0 EFT  Term till July 2021


PROGRAM:                           Community Development


RESPONSIBLE TO:                 Community Development Coordinator- Social Work



NorWest Co-op Community Health requires a Community Development Social Worker that will work within the Inkster and Seven Oaks community to build community capacity and support the community with health and wellness initiatives. Working closely with other NorWest programs, the social worker will support community resource centre initiatives and programming. The social worker will provide counselling to men and women, and youth, ages 14 and up, through referrals from agencies and those self-referred.



  • Bachelors degree in Social Work.
  • 3-4 years counselling experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with community development
  • Knowledge of community resources and community development principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings
  • Knowledge and experience with diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
  • Skills in leadership development and group facilitation
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required
  • Criminal records and child abuse registry checks required
