Position Overview

Under the overall direction of the Manager, Clinical Informatics, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the CLINICAL INFORMATICS ANALYST, CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS, is responsible for the ongoing support, analysis and identification of opportunities to optimize the use of the EPR (Electronic Patient Record) and other clinical information systems as required to support clinical and business process work flows for care providers and ameliorate patient care and safety.

This includes the engagement of the clinical units/areas to support needs assessments, develop project objectives, requirements and scope for quality assurance activities, improvement activities or transformation initiatives; support ongoing analysis on the utilization of EPR functions and data to determine improvement opportunities for the organization; provide input and parameters to Manitoba eHealth for future requests; support major EPR activities including new EPR module implementations and version upgrades; and performing other related duties as required.


  • Two (2) years experience performing as a business analyst working with a variety of business stakeholders in a dynamic, project-based environment required.
  • Two (2) years recent experience working with an electronic health record system required (preferably with the EPR -Electronic Patient Record).
  • Recent work experience in healthcare industry and understanding of trends and business drivers required.
  • Experience in designing, conducting, and analyzing data.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Project Management training an asset.
  • University Degree or diploma in related business, healthcare or Information Technology required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software including Microsoft Office, email and internet applications is required.
  • Knowledge with SQL queries and understanding relational database management an asset.
  • History of analyzing requirements for and/or acquiring solutions that provides a measurable benefit to the business.
  • Project management skills – ability to coordinate/prioritize multiple projects
  • Knowledge of clinical systems used in patient care and the associated workflows.
