Position Overview

The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) manages the centralized referrals to the Clinical Health Psychology (CHP) Program, navigating referrals to the appropriate clinics in the Program or to other services and resources as needed, stratifying referrals by urgency, and addressing patient and provider queries regarding services and wait lists. The PAC is the senior administrator of the patient registry and scheduler (an electronic patient record/EPR), liaising with Manitoba Health regarding patient database information, and preparing clinic and program-level reports related to service volumes and other data requests. Additionally, based on a strong understanding of the program and its patients, the PAC maintains and communicates up to date information about the program (e.g., updating relevant internet and intranet pages). The incumbent serves as the requisitioner for the CHP regional program, ordering, tracking and distributing office and specialized clinical supplies, supporting clinical testing inventory needs across the multiple sites of the program.

  • A minimum of 3 years recent health services coordination or administration experience, inclusive of administrative experience with patients and health care providers.
  • Experience with requisition and ordering systems (i.e. SAP) would be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in health/social services from a recognized university or college required; a combination of post-secondary education and work experience may be considered.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability of critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills including databases and web-based applications, preferably with experience in training others to use applications.
  • Able to effectively contribute to a team environment by maintaining good working relationships with all levels of staff and the general public.
  • A basic knowledge of clinical health psychology and psychological diagnoses would be an asset.


This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
