Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Procurement Services, and working collaboratively with, other members of the supply chain team, this role is responsible for leading a team of staff responsible for procuring a category of products, services, and/or equipment. The assigned work includes but is not limited to: prioritizing and balancing work of the team for effective service provision to customers; ensuring that supply disruptions are managed to prevent stock outs at sites; monitoring dashboards for work efficiency, productivity of team members and resolving issues pertaining to blocked invoices. Maintaining business continuity of the specified category of business and engaging the vendor community to ensure strong business relationships that support the goals of the organization to provide the right product, at the right time for a specified price. Maintains strong communications with the Contracting team on matters pertaining to vendor performance and product quality as well as monitoring off contract spend.

 

Responsible for developing standard operating procedures to support and maintain consistent processes. The Category Lead is involved in all aspects of strategic sourcing and procurement and requires a high degree of expertise in managing a healthcare supply chain from Procure-to- Pay and meeting the end users and/or customers’ requirements to support patient care.

 

Experience

  • 5 years of procurement experience in a public sector environment (including identifying business/operations requirements to support strategic sourcing and supply chain process improvements).
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience in managing a team of procurement staff (coaching, motivating, guiding and managing work performance)
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP an asset.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct team facilitation, demonstrate effective presentation skills, conduct instructional sessions and maintain comprehensive documentation of standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in dealing with team conflicts and managing the team to ensure a positive work environment that enables the achievement of the organization’s mission, vision and goals within the context of the WRHA’s Code of Conduct
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment and lead a team of procurement coordinators and/or clerks.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to prioritize and assign team member workloads
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide outstanding customer oriented service.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently or in a team environment, and manage time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in identifying tactical and strategic business needs, with demonstrated ability to enhance processes to meet customer and organizational requirements.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Post-secondary Degree in a related discipline such as supply chain, economics, commerce, or business from an accredited educational institution; an equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Enrollment in or completion of any of the following would be considered an asset: Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), or Professional Logistician (Plog).
