Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Digital Health focuses on supporting clinical and business systems as the foundation for leveraging electronic data in the delivery of health-care services. Clinical Digital Solutions within Digital Health provides effective processes, systems and technologies for health-care system clients in Manitoba including Shared Health and six provincial service delivery organizations and other appropriate partners.

 

We have current opportunities for up to three informatics specialists – nursing who will provide nursing expertise to internal and external clients in analysis, business workflow, gap analysis, clinical standards, ensuring the clinical applications facilitate safe and efficient patient care through the adoption of best practices. The successful candidates will engage our stakeholders in implementing processes to meet regulatory standards and industry benchmarks, analyze and manage adoption and change processes, including risk mitigation strategies. The successful candidates’ leadership, professionalism, diplomacy, and continuous improvement orientation will be evident as they collaborate with clients and colleagues to provide excellent customer service, identify system solutions, and support an integrated province-wide health-care system that provides multiculturally respectful health services delivery.

 

The work assignments of these positions may range across supporting a variety of digital health applications used in community care settings and acute care facilities across Manitoba. The primary intended work assignment for these term opportunities will focus on acute care and electronic patient records (EPR). As these roles are provincial in nature, the work location is flexible within Manitoba and will be made in consultation with the successful candidates.

Experience

3 years of recent clinical nursing experience, and/or experience in health-care system management across one or more of the following:

  • Clinical information system implementation(s) or other health system transformation projects providing business and clinical analyses of workflow processes and current/future state gap analyses and/or,
  • Translating the health-care system culture and clinical thinking process used by clinicians into practical technology solutions, and supporting organizational change and clinical adoption and/or,
  • Providing clinical leadership, guidance and direction to influence the design or configuration of clinical applications, and leading and facilitating large groups in decision-making

 

Direct nursing experience in an acute care setting and providing user training and support for Manitoba's Public Health Information Management System (PHIMS) and/or Electronic Home Care Record (EHCR) and/or Electronic Patient Record (EPR) are assets

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Post-secondary degree in nursing
  • Postgraduate degree(s) and/or formal education in clinical informatics, business administration, computer science, project management or related fields, and familiarity with ITIL and PRINCE2 certifications are considered assets

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba required prior to assuming position
  • Current membership in a recognized informatics association is considered an asset

Qualifications and Skills

Physical Requirements

  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment, and able to lift and move items of up to 10 kg
  • Must be able to work scheduled ‘on-call’ evenings and weekends, overtime, and alternate shifts as required to providing province-wide client support 24/7/365
