Clinical Supervisor - Immunization

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our departments across the province will require additional staffing to support our fight against COVID-19; while continuing to provide the best possible health care services to Manitobans.


Manitoba recognizes the hard work and dedication of our front-line heath care providers and we are looking for additional experienced health care providers to offer support during these unprecedented and challenging times, to help provincial efforts to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

Position Overview

  • Responsible for clinical functioning of the Immunization Clinic
  • In collaboration with the Clinic Manager, ensures that all team members are aware of their role for the day and provides regular updates to the team as new information becomes available
  • Addresses all clinical issues, i.e. PHIMS, critical incidents i.e.. anaphylaxis, AEFI
  • Leads education of clinic staff
  • Provides clinical practice and quality monitoring support to immunization providers and post immunization observation area team members:
    • Supervises staff
    • Coaches staff
    • Mentors staff
    • Performance manages staff
    • Identifies staff competencies and areas require additional training
    • Provides on-site training
  • Assists in situation where clients voice concerns (in conjunction with Manager)
  • Responds to questions from clients and/or the Immunization Team Members or in the post immunization observation areas, including clients who fail the screening, are not eligible for immunization based on the criteria of the clinic or have contraindications
  • Require proficiency in all areas of the clinic operation; provide coverage with staff shortages or if the clinic needs assistance i.e. assist with drawing up vaccine, addressing an anaphylactic event, informed consent, etc.
  • Leads discussion with Medical Officer of Health
  • Ensures cold chain of vaccine is maintained and monitors vaccine inventory
  • Assists with problem solving related to informed consent process
  • Ensures compliance within the clinic workplace safety procedures
  • Follows PPE policies and procedures and supports all team members to ensure that PPE procedures are adhered to

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Health care professionals who meet the qualifications set out in the Order under The Regulated Health Professions Act (vaccine administration) that came into effect April 6, 2021

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience working in mass immunization clinics and with all aspects of safe provision of immunization services preferred
  • Previous immunization clinic training preferred
  • Paid training as required by the Vaccine Immunization Task Force
